02.21.08 | Les' Album Release Party CORAL GABLES, FL - Friday, February 29th, R&B artist “Les” celebrates the release of his debut album Les Is More by performing at The Rathskeller, located on the University of Miami campus at 1330 Miller Drive, Coral Gables. The party, billed as the “Unity Party”, will be cohosted by ‘Cane Records and COISO (the Council of International Students and Organizations). It starts at 10:30 p.m. and is open to the general public. Admission for students is free with a student ID. Admission for all others is $5. The event features free food and prize giveaways. Les will perform several tracks from the album at 11:30 p.m.
Les, a student at the University of Miami, signed with the student-run record label ‘Cane Records in September of 2007. He then began working on his album with the help of two student producers, using the facilities on campus. The result is an eleven track R&B album with
up tempo tracks “I Can’t Stay” and “Leave Your Man”, ballads “From A Dream” and “Why You Can’t,” and harder-hitting Hip-Hop influenced “New Management”, just to name a few. Les Is More will be available for sale via digital download on February 29th at www.digstation.com. Soon after, it will be available at other online outlets and in physical stores.
‘Cane Records is the student-run record label at the University of Miami, established by students in the Music Business and Entertainment Industries Program in 1993. Les Is More will be the nineteenth album release for the label. In the fall of 2006, Assistant Professor Serona Elton assumed the advisory role for the label when she joined the University. Ms. Elton, a former UM student, was one of the original founding members of ‘Cane Records. Since then, the label has
adopted a new updated logo, a new website, and new operating model. Beginning in the fall of 2007, students began getting college credit for their participation in the label.

‘CANE RECORDS
HOSTS EVENT TO SHOWCASE AUDITION FINALISTS
CORAL GABLES, FL- ‘Cane Records, the University of Miami’s student run record label, is hosting an event to showcase their next recording artist audition finalists. The event takes place on Sunday, November 18, 2007 from 3:00-8:00 pm at Flavour night club in Coconut Grove (2895 McFarlane Road) and is open to the general public.
Artists must have submitted their demonstration performance tape to ‘Cane Records by November 7th and have received an invitation to participate in the live auditions.
The first round of auditions will be held over the two days prior to the event on the campus of the University of Miami. November 16th will be specifically for University of Miami students, while November 17th will be specifically for local artists. After both of these events, selected artists will receive a call from ‘Cane Records inviting them to the final round of auditions.
On November 18th, all of the finalists will showcase their talent at club Flavour. In the days following the event, ‘Cane Records will review and evaluate each performance and
determine which artist to offer a recording deal.
In 2007, ‘Cane Records re-launched itself, updating its logo, website, mission statement and operational approach. Most recently, the label signed R&B artist Les, and is currently working on producing his album, due to be released in early 2008.
